Dental Exams and Cleanings

Prevention is key at Newport Beach Dentistry. Through comprehensive oral examinations and regular dental cleanings, we can detect early signs of dental problems before they progress. By taking digital xrays and intra-oral photos, we can identify these early signs and provide you with the tools necessary to maintain a clean, healthy mouth.

Oral Hygiene

Brushing twice a day and flossing daily is the recommended routine for keeping your teeth and gums healthy. At Newport Beach Dentistry, we will provide you with techniques and strategies to make sure you are getting the most out of your hygiene habits. Our approach will provide you with a customized daily hygiene plan that is suited to your individual needs.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

These natural looking fillings are a drastic improvement to the traditional mercury amalgam fillings of the past. The composite filling material allows us the ability to create a restoration that custom matches the shade of your tooth. Another advantage of composite fillings is that they are bonded directly on your tooth and require less removal of tooth structure than traditional silver fillings.

Dental Implants

Whether you are missing a single tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants can provide you with the most accurate representation of a real tooth.  After the dental implant has been placed, a custom crown is fabricated to fit on top of your implant.  Dental implants are a great way to replace your missing teeth, improve your smile, and allow you to regain chewing function.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are used to restore broken down teeth back to their original size, shape, and function. Crowns can be made from a variety of different materials to provide the strength and esthetics that are needed in your mouth. Each crown at Newport Beach Dentistry is custom fabricated at a dental laboratory to match your original tooth. We are confident you will be completely satisfied with the result of your new crown.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is one option to replace one or more missing teeth.  A bridge uses the teeth on either side of the space to anchor an artificial tooth in place.  Unlike partial dentures, dental bridges are bonded onto your teeth and are not removed. This treatment can be an excellent option to maintain a natural, beautiful smile.

Emergencies

Dental emergencies can happen any time and any place. Whether you have suffered a dental trauma or are in extreme pain, we are here to help patients with any dental emergency. If you have suffered a dental emergency, it’s important to see a dentist immediately to prevent any possible future dental problems.

Endodontic Therapy

When decay has reached the nerve of your tooth or an infection develops at the root, endodontic therapy (root canal treatment) may be necessary. If you are experiencing a severe tooth ache or abscess, the nerve along with the bacteria within the tooth may need to be removed. This will help alleviate pain, eliminate the infection, and prevent your tooth from being extracted. Following root canal treatment, a dental crown is needed to provide strength and stability to your tooth.

Full Dentures

Full dentures are just one treatment option for replacing missing teeth, however, they are not the treatment of choice due to the fact that they do not fit well and require the use of adhesives and denture pastes. Here at Newport Beach Dentistry, we offer implant-supported dentures also known as overdentures. These dentures snap into place providing many advantages over traditional dentures, including:

  • Improved speech
  • Better chewing efficiency
  • Less bone loss over time
  • Improved esthetics
Partial Dentures

If you are missing several teeth, a partial denture may be one option for you. Removable partial dentures consist of replacement teeth that are attached to gum-colored plastic bases on a metal framework. This dental appliance is removed every night and can be cleaned easily at your own home. Partial dentures will allow you to chew effectively and reduce the stress in your bite.

Tooth Extractions

Extractions may be necessary for a variety of reasons:

  • Tooth-related infections
  • Fractured tooth beyond the point that it can be saved with root canal treatment and a dental crown
  • Advanced periodontal disease
  • Overcrowding causing teeth to be in improper alignment

It is our goal at Newport Beach Dentistry to prevent unnecessary tooth extractions; however, there are a number of treatment options to replace a missing tooth:

Advanced Periodontal Care

If you have been told you have gingivitis or periodontitis, our skilled dentists at Newport Beach Dentistry will determine the best treatment to get your gums back to a healthy state. Following a thorough examination and of your gums, we will determine which type of dental cleaning is needed. Our experienced hygienist will deliver a customized hygiene recare program that will suit your needs.
